I consistently achieved an 82% success rate when setting up configurations. The only error I encountered was code 80007002C, which didn’t assist much. Where can I find the log file? (If available) My system restarts back to Windows 8.1 each time.

Setup needs access to the drive before it can begin. Rollback records are kept when Setup reverts due to critical failures. Log files are stored in specific directories for Panther, Plug and Play devices, and debugging information. Memory dumps come from bug testing locations, while minidumps are saved in designated log folders. Sysprep logs reside in the System32 directory.

There were issues relocating a file within System32. The entire directory was deleted but the problem persisted. The error remains consistent during the final 95% of completion, with 82% of configuration steps still failing.

Choose one path: Option 1 involves performing a fresh installation of Windows 8.1, followed right away by the 10 upgrade. Immediately back up all crucial data, remove every app and driver except networking, run virus/malware scans, clean registry entries, and use tools like CCLEANER to tidy temp files. If that doesn’t work, revert to Option 1—likely due to system or permission issues.

I'm preparing my flash drive and transferring the C: drive immediately. Please let me know if it succeeds. I really enjoy using Windows 10 on my laptop.

My drive has no software installed—just a clean slate. No infections detected; I regularly run Malwarebytes, Defender, and AdwCleaner. CCcleaner tends to remove my Civ V maps, so I don’t rely on it much.

Confirm with Super Antispyware and review the registry for issues. Also, scan your system for any problematic folders that need cleaning.

Reinstalled version 8.1 again, and it prompted a direct update to Windows 10. It’s functioning now.
