You can safely back up only the save files rather than the entire game. This way you preserve your ability to install the game later without replaying it. It’s a good solution given your limited space and the number of games you need to manage.

It depends on the specific game. Some are stored in user data, MyGames, Documents, etc., and each game differs. Focus on the ones you truly value. Google usually provides the best guidance.

Steam includes a backup feature, but it applies to both game data and save files, not just one or the other. You can select which files you want to back up.

To reload the saved file after reinstalling the game, you need to copy the save data back into the game files. This usually involves opening the saved file in a compatible program or using the game’s built-in tools to transfer the data. If unsure, check the game’s documentation or support section for specific steps.

The game will take you directly to its saved files. If it saves your progress in mygames, it will make a folder for itself so you can store the save there.

Thanks a lot! I just saved you 50 gigabytes of HD space since I was planning to use the Steam backup feature. Appreciate it!
