I watched those Epic deals this week and decided to try something new. Not sure if it's the right game for me personally, but that's okay since free games are usually a good deal straight out of the box. This looks nice in my eyes and my computer is happy running with all settings set to auto. I just turned off V-Sync because of my monitor (G-Sync support) and it's getting super fast at 130+ FPS. I tried messing around with a few stuff like DLSS and Motion Blur but things got crazy with tearing, so I went back to the defaults. My computer stays cool even though it's colder than that witch's brass bra right now. I didn't realize before loading that this game would make me sit there for three hours just watching cut scenes. Basically, the first two hours you're stuck watching stuff move on its own without much control over what happens next. Skipping ahead is possible but since I don't know the story yet, I thought it was important to watch. It feels weird and strange like a drug trip to my brain. If you haven't played this before, I'm not trying to ruin your fun, just warn you to prepare yourself because it's very different from normal games. After playing for four hours on my first try with about 3.5 hours of cut scenes, that was my biggest disappointment or annoyance when it comes to actual gameplay time. If you don't skip those boring intro scenes, there is really no way to pause and do something like go to bed because the game won't stop until you've finished watching a lot of stuff. I'm exaggerating just slightly here; it's possible you could be sitting there for nearly two hours before even getting the chance to pause or rest. The first mission feels very tedious. It has a lot in common with games like Skyrim or Witcher where you have to walk around a long time doing nothing but moving. So far, it "acts" like an open-world sandbox game and that might change as the story develops more over time. My first feeling is that the hallways are just really huge, so to speak. Still feels like a guided tour though anyway. I might post more about this later as I continue playing and learn more inside details...
Time waste. I just spent hours scrolling through these cut scenes while doing nothing else. I sit there listening to characters named with crazy names talking about silly words for different goals and tools. The game is mostly focused on turning pictures from the movie into game graphics, which feels like an obsession with Norman Reedus's acting style. One specific ad for his show Ride was really weird to me. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. I'm not sure if I'll keep playing this long or leave now.
Hey, we just talked to each other on a chat app and he said, "Yeah? You know what that game is all about? It's the FedEx Simulator!" I guess that perfectly explains the whole thing.
