Hello, your HP Pavilion Slimline S5510y's OS got damaged by a virus and all the data was lost. Right now I'm preparing to install a fresh operating system and drivers. I was thinking about Windows 8.1, but while downloading new drivers I saw that when asked for the current OS it only showed Windows 7 options. Can you tell me if Windows 8.1 will work on this machine? Thank you.

If it ran 7, skip buying 8. Go directly to 10 for free. Windows 7 drivers are compatible with 8 or 10.

If you're purchasing for a very low cost (like $22) and Windows 10 hasn't been released yet, consider checking used or refurbished options, or look into alternative operating systems.

You can get the preview or keep using Windows 7 until April releases, I believe.
