I'm starting my first PC build and noticed I have a cable shortage for my 2x 8pin CPU power. My PSU is 850W and can handle more cables, but it wasn't mentioned. I'm wondering if I can run and play games on the PC using just one cable in the CPU power slot. I have an Intel Core i5-12600 MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4, LGA1700 and Cooler Master V850 V2 Gold PSU 850W. I plan to buy an extra cable later if needed.

The second option is meant for intense overclocking, you should be okay with it.

The PSU includes a 4+4 and an 8 pin cable for the CPU. You only need to connect both when you plan to heavily overclock the CPU.

However, the 4+4 arrangement didn't work in any way...

Previously I used a CM PSU and faced issues with the 4+4 connection. I ended up needing cable extensions, which made things more complicated. You can purchase it, but it's quite challenging. Alternatively, you could opt for the 8-pin version if that would be simpler.

Notice that the 4+4 isn't identical to the 8-pin configuration.

It doesn't fit because the bottom right corner has a different shape.

I understand, but this will work with the 8-pin on the MB. The square shapes on the bottom left and right of the 8-pin connector will fit.

Yes, you can treat the 4+4 as a 8 while keeping the shapes similar.
