Hi. I’m starting my first PC build after a while and the manual mentioned needing two cables for better power delivery across multiple GPUs. Since I only have one GPU, should I connect the second cable directly to the motherboard? I’m worried about the pins being blocked by my PSU. I’d prefer to leave it but just want to confirm. Thanks for your help!
You're mistaken. This applies only when you have several graphics cards, which can cause the 12V rail on the 24-pin connector to become overloaded while powering the PCIe slot because each GPU draws 75W plus additional connectors.
Two GPUs work just fine, but with 3 or 4 card settings your rig needs more performance... I’ve had the same setup on my Rampage V.
