I own a fresh computer and considered swapping the RAM from an older model into its second slot. The new unit’s RAM model is M378A1K43EB2-CWE whereas the previous one was M378A1K43CB2-CTD. The key difference I noticed is that the newer version runs at 2666 MHz, while the older one operates at 3200 MHz.

The quicker RAM will lower its speed to match the slower rate. Avoid attempting XMP or OC settings.

It should function properly with both units operating at 2666MTps, though that might be inefficient. RAM prices are currently low. Consider purchasing a second 3200MTps module (similar to your existing one) and resell the 2666MTps unit.

Essentially you're attempting to merge an 8GbS Samsung E-Die with an 8GbS Samsung C-Die. I don't see a reason it wouldn't work at 3200MHz JEDEC, but it likely won't go much further because the C-Die is probably overheating and the 8GbS die seems average rather than powerful. The 4Gb version still works well for OEM boards like M378A1G43EB1 with solid timings and decent scaling.
