Hello, a year ago I built my own system using Windows 8.1 PRO x64. I still have the license and all the parts. I’m asking if I can reuse the same key for another machine I’ll be setting up for a family member. If yes, will it affect my current setup? If not, please let me know whether I’m allowed to use the same key twice. Thank you.
I noticed that retail versions of 8... work on two OEM units instead of the usual setup.
If the key is versatile, feel free to use it. I’m not sure Microsoft actually offered multi-use keys with Windows 8 as they did with Windows 7. Generally, they provide single-use keys for the public. If you possess an OEM key, you can reuse it several times, though those tend to be very costly—often exceeding a thousand dollars. For Windows 7, Microsoft typically sold one, dual, or multi-key versions (up to five).
