I saw Logan's video about "wiiplacement" and I was curious if using Wii game discs would work instead of downloading ROMs. I don't like that approach, but I've heard mixed things—some say it's possible, others claim it's not.
I'll check when I get home. I own some Wii and Gamecube games. I know for a fact Wii games work. I've done it myself before. I'm pretty sure Gamecube games will work as well. There's no reason it shouldn't imo.
Only Nintendo makes these claims, and it's because they don't support ROMs or homebrew games.
I don’t recognize Ian’s Skyrim account. He also has a ROM of the game, but he was caught and learned that even though you own the game, you only have one copy, not multiple.
Unfortunately, the answer comes from the Dolphin FAQ. The question asks about using legally owned GC discs. These discs aren't compatible with your DVD drive, so no support will be available in the future. The person giving this advice misunderstands the law. If he were a police officer or similar, it would be disappointing on many levels. Unless this applies outside the US, I'm speaking for the US. It's allowed for me to back up my legally owned movies and music on my PC for personal use, which is the same.
