Hey, I own an Omen laptop Basically omen 15 2018 model. It has an intel i5 9300h with 1x8gb 2666 ram. But now I'm thinking to upgrade it to 2x8gb ram but I'm thinking will putting 3200mhz will increase performance and will be stable? More advices are greatly appreciated.
On a laptop, it's usually best to stick with the same RAM speeds.
Staying with the same pre-installed brand RAM is a smart choice... just need to purchase one 8GB stick with 2666 pins.
Consider removing the original stick and examining the product code on the sticker. Then purchase another stick with the same code online. This helps ensure compatibility. For instance, there are three memory chip makers on the stick: Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. Occasionally, using a 2666MHz 8GB stick from Samsung in a system with another 8GB 2666 MHz stick from SK Hynix might cause issues, while a 2666MHz 8GB stick from Micron could work well. Your motherboard might not recognize one of the sticks. You can be sure the stick arrives undamaged during shipping, but you can only confirm this when buying in person.
