Can you play Star Citizen with your current setup? Your system includes a Ryzen 1600 at 3.9GHz, 8GB RAM, a GTX 1070 Strix running at 2.1GHz, and a 1TB hard drive. You're aiming for around 45FPS with good graphics. Your main concerns are the RAM capacity and storage speed.

You're right, it would likely need higher quality options and a significant amount of time to finish loading.

given that the current build is leaking memory left and right you'll have a hard time with 8GB of ram and your page file on spinning rust. That and the fact that FPS in the Persistent Universe is currently network bound you might not reach you 45 FPS goal. Arena Commander and Star Marine should be fine though. If you want to put it to the test there's a free flight going on this weekend: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/promo...-Fly-Event Edit: the code is GETINTOTHEVERSE

Beyond memory issues, this title demands significant and constantly changing amounts of RAM. Even after fixing leaks, the frequent need to move large data sets every few seconds will persist. I’d suggest it won’t run smoothly on a standard hard drive, no matter how long you wait. I tested it with a friend who used his HDD—he could start a process in 2-3 minutes on a fast SSD, but after loading, the performance dropped sharply due to constant data swaps. An SSD is essential; any other drive will make playback noticeably worse.

I'm curious about your main issue. It seems like you're experiencing performance hiccups under heavy load, even though no error messages appear. This issue occurs roughly every 10-15 minutes, no matter the server. You've tried tweaking settings—disabling Vsync, motion blur, and graphics—to get a smoother experience. Your hardware looks solid: an i5-7500 with 3.40GHz, 16GB RAM, Evo 850 SSD, GTX 950, and 2GB video card.

That's just version 3.1, and I also receive those updates.

Napper198 appreciated the reply. I think there might be some problems with the alpha quality of SC. I'm just wondering since those with better gear, like streamers, can play for long periods without issues, what could be causing that.

It seems I'm using 1440p resolution often, yet my VRAM usage stays around 8GB most of the time—usually only spiking when Chrome is open. When things freeze or crash, it's usually due to a memory leak. 16GB of system RAM works well as long as Chrome is closed.

I understand, it's tough because GPUs are really expensive right now. I'll keep an eye on the situation for 3.2 and more. Appreciate your patience.
