I have an old machine with an i5 750. I was thinking about adding a GPU to see if it could run PUGBO. My friend uses the Xbox version, but it’s really poor quality—mostly struggles under 20 FPS.

It seems unclear, but I believe you might be suggesting trying a GPU if you haven't mentioned one yet.

I’d need to purchase a GPU, but I have the whole PC except for that part.

Yes, it might have been possible, though it wouldn't have been ideal. The frame rate would likely be between 45 and 75 frames per second.

It's still much better than what he was playing on Xbox, so I was considering getting a 1050 Ti.

Typically between 45 and 60 frames per second during lower settings.

I have one and if you boost it to 3.6-3.8 ghz it works fine. Simple. Note: you still require a GPU like the 1050ti or 1060 for 1080p. Edited March 20, 2018 by aless83

Essentially PUBG works differently depending on the platform you use.

The i5 750 performs adequately, but its gaming experience hinges on the graphics card used. A 1050ti or comparable card meets the baseline for fluid 60fps gameplay, especially when all graphical settings are minimized.
