Remove the device from the previous machine and contact Microsoft to ask them to disable the existing serial number, after which you can set it up on the new system.

I also needed to reinstall Office 2007, but everything went smoothly. Simply set it up on the new computer and provide the serial number. You might need to complete the activation via the manual process (contact a support line and follow their steps).
