Is that really what happened? I thought it would have been my turn to buy the computer. My grandma got it from Best Buy with me, but she didn’t have a place to store it and there was no key.

If you modify the motherboard, you might need to reinstall Windows. Otherwise, I haven't encountered any problems switching components and I haven't had to buy a second license.
