The PC will soon only have an HDD. If I put Windows 8.1 on the HDD first and then switch to an SSD later, can I reinstall Windows 8.1 using the same disk and optical drive again?

Ensure you use the same hardware during reinstallation, like your motherboard.

Sorry for the delay, power problems... I’d mainly change the SSD. So I think I’d remove Windows from the HDD, restart the PC, and then install it again on the SSD version.
