I'm using an Intel i5 7400 and was considering boosting its speed. Since I don’t have access to a BIOS update, I’m experimenting with XTU but have limited options. My motherboard isn’t unlocked, and I don’t have a proper cooling setup—just a master cooler that keeps me at around 55°C under load. I’m unsure if this will work or how much gain I can expect.
Only Intel CPUs ending in K can be overclocked. The i7-7700K is a case in point, but even with a K at the end, your motherboard might not support it. Edited November 7, 2019 by noxdeouroboros
Have you checked all the comments on that discussion? Even if you could try what the post suggested, "performance gains will be almost nonexistent," I'm 99.9% confident it won't work on your motherboard. Edited November 7, 2019 by noxdeouroboros
Raising BLCK boosts memory speed, PCIe Bus speed, essentially anything powered by the clock source (especially on AMD platforms). Increasing BCLK could lead to memory errors or even GPU crashes since components are also overclocked.
