I have a solid CPU and GPU, and I haven't ever overclocked before. The main concern is the title, so here are my details:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3.100GHz (originally 3.00, bought with 3.1, built PC, no prior CPU knowledge)
GPU: MSI GTX 750Ti OC 2GB (not installed yet)
RAM: 4GB (intending to purchase another 4GB)
Motherboard: H81M-DGS
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Please let me know if I should consider overclocking or need to upgrade anything. Thanks.

there is nothing that needs fixing. You can increase the GPU's speed. For the CPU, it generally needs a model with overclocking support (K index at the end of the model) and a compatible motherboard.

The gains from overclocking your system will be very small.
So no point in trying to do so.

Only the GPU is capable of being overclocked?
EDIT: I was able to overclock the GPU, which is exactly what I needed!

You can't repair something that isn't broken. Your system likely has a locked i5, making it impossible to overclock it, and your GPU won't improve much if you try. Any attempt will likely do nothing or risk damaging the hardware. I suggest upgrading to a better GPU if you play games and have at least 4 gigabytes of RAM.

You can't improve something that isn't broken. Since your system likely has a locked i5, overclocking won't help, and adding more RAM might not boost performance if the GPU can't utilize it. Adding more RAM could still be beneficial, but overclocking won't change that.

not really a significant change.
if you achieve 10-15% overclock and your game runs smoothly at 30-60 FPS, you might only notice a 3-5 FPS difference.

Do you have any ideas besides purchasing more RAM? I don't intend to run games at maximum settings.
