Be aware that cloning often fails when the drives differ. It's safer to reinstall Windows on your SSD and move your data from the HDD to the SSD.

Sure, I can create a backup of the drive. However, a fresh installation on an SSD would be preferable if possible. You could also use Acronis TrueImage to clone the drive—it can automatically adjust partition sizes even if they differ.

We talked to a Windows support representative who didn’t know about performing a clean installation. I believed the key would stop working after using it just once.
