Typically, connecting a wired computer to a wireless one via Ethernet doesn't transfer Wi-Fi directly. You'd need a bridge or adapter to enable that functionality.

If using Windows, simply access the Network Adapters via the control panel and choose the connection-sharing setting for your WiFi adapter. (The image displays this on the Ethernet link, but you must configure the WiFi adapter itself.)

They can establish a connection by linking the Wi-Fi controller on the computer to the Wi-Fi card using an Ethernet cable.

Navigate to settings, then go to Network Connections. Click "Change adapter options." Right-click your internet-connected adapter (Ethernet or Wi-Fi), choose "Properties." In the "Sharing" section, check the box for "Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection." Restart if needed; the other device should now have access.

You require a unique Ethernet cable (reversed Ethernet), where one end is flipped. It won’t function with standard cables; you’ll need a switch or router. On one machine, you can connect the Wi-Fi of one computer to another.

No longer required a unique cable (crossover cable). The network cards will manage themselves.

Are you sure about that? It's been a long time since I last used it.

It's automatically running now. Remember, the "sleep timer" doesn't account for network activity, meaning if no one is using another PC, it could end up sleeping. Without internet access, turning off sleep on the Wi-Fi-connected PC might be important.
