can you install win10 alongside another operating system? i wasn't sure about the official term, so i used parallel. it's similar to how you can install ubuntu next to windows, with a choice during boot to pick between them. i want that setup but instead of being prompted at startup, i should be able to select which partition to boot from on my laptop.

Are you referring to dual boot setup? Yes. Set up Linux after Windows, or else Windows might remove the GRUB installation.

The partition you're attempting to install Windows 10 on is correctly formatted for the appropriate scheme, especially MBR. Even then, a definitive positive outcome isn't possible. Windows 10 has caused problems during dual booting, but that's the expected behavior.

Use Oracle VirtualBox for testing. It's a more secure option.
