I use a Razer Blade 14in from 2014 with Windows 8.1 and everything works fine. About six months ago I switched to Windows 10 on an older laptop, the T410. The experience there has been terrible—I waited six months, hoping things would improve, but they haven’t. My problems are: I can’t put it to sleep without the graphics driver crashing, and it doesn’t auto-detect to restart. Trying to uninstall a program in the start menu only brings up web searches that aren’t very helpful. When a program does show up, it takes time to load. On my 7th and 8th Windows 10 machines I’ve had to boot in safe mode to fix issues like a black screen with just the mouse visible. My question is: should I install Windows 10 on my Razer Blade? And will these problems appear on other Windows 10 setups too?

On my main rig I've got Windows 10 set up. Based on what I've seen, it runs well with just a few issues—mostly games freezing, which could be the game itself. It's generally reliable, but personal experience matters.

Six months back Windows 10 was still in technical preview. It wasn't built for users expecting a fully functional system. It's aimed at those who wish to assist Microsoft by sharing feedback so the final version is refined. The Windows 10 RTM release isn't even a month old.

Attempt to reinstall it again. I also have issues on my laptop, and I was using a late preview. My friend has already installed it and hasn’t encountered any bugs or problems. Give it a try—it might be due to the laptop model, but likely related to the technical preview update. It should work nicely on a Razer Blade since it’s such a solid notebook. Good luck!

Always create a backup before making these changes, just in case something goes wrong. If the Windows Upgrade suggests you can move to Windows 10, that’s usually okay. They’re gradually releasing updates for hardware they believe will work well with Windows 10. Since it’s still early, trust your own judgment. I haven’t upgraded myself yet because I didn’t need to, but my Surface Pro has worked fine after upgrading, and I’m also using it on my main computer without any problems.

Win 10 is available from RTM and not in beta. For Windows insiders, your system won’t be RTM because you’ll keep getting the latest updates.

Engage more than just reading—challenge your mind and expand your knowledge. Today's win isn't worth just earning an RC badge, and it's only a few months until the RTM deadline...
