I am using my phone only and would appreciate having an NFC shortcut on the home screen to quickly power it on and off. No instructions needed for the drop-down menu.

There are certain applications that function, but your device needs to be rooted. Many NFC payment tools don't operate on rooted devices due to security concerns.
