I'm considering removing the app store and package installer after rooting. Previously, I used distraction removal tools but discovered ways to bypass them. Now I'm looking for a lasting fix. Do you know how app updates would function afterward? Would it still be possible to update using adb after 4 to 6 months? I'm not sure if there are other alternatives. I've managed to work around all other apps so far. Please adjust the forum section if this isn't the right place.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a phone these days. They’re affordable and offer several benefits compared to using a regular Android device, especially in terms of battery life.

No! I need to eliminate the package installer as well, so I can only add the apps I really want (like maps and Pacer) instead of downloading everything automatically. I can use F-Droid to protect my privacy by avoiding Google, but I still want to watch YouTube using open-source apps. I just don’t want my phone wasting my time with unnecessary stuff.

It's not. I often need to use NFC payments and having cash is difficult for me.

You might register your phone through an MDM (e.g., Android Enterprise fully managed), restrict it to only specific apps, and then configure a random password on the MDM so changes are impossible thereafter.

I struggle to manage myself. These situations are consuming my life. And I believe I'm not the only one.

It’s unlikely that removing the default Google software will affect your NFC payment features. Your financial institution might provide a contactless card option instead.

In India we rely on the UPI system for NFC, and some posts suggest it might function with Magisk.

Removing the App Store forces you to manually install updates via sideloading. The Package installer is essential for Android and connects to many device features, including app permissions. Without it, your phone may fail to start. The nearest equivalent to your current setup is a custom AOSP ROM without Google services like LineageOS. Certain apps might still rely on these services. A better option would be to create a tailored AOSP ROM with desired features turned off, though you’d then enter the world of ROM development.
