So I understand this might not be the most common view on forums, but overall I really enjoy Apple. I’ve always been happy with their products and appreciate how everything works well together, which is quite satisfying. My setup includes an iPhone (I tried Android last year and felt relieved when it was stolen), an iPad, a Homepod, and Apple Music. I’m planning to add Apple TV soon too. Until about a year ago, I owned a 2011 15" MacBook Pro, upgraded with SSD and more RAM, and it still performed excellently when I sold it last year. I still don’t know why I gave it up. At first I thought getting an iMac would be perfect, but I wasn’t impressed by the fusion drive or the price of a decent SSD upgrade. Instead, I built my own PC! It was a lot of fun and I have a system that’s easy to upgrade and comes with great accessories. Now I miss having a laptop—I hoped I could handle mobile tasks on the iPad, but it doesn’t feel as smooth as using a full desktop. I still prefer Mac OS over Windows 10, though I’m confused about why MacBooks disappeared. Keyboards are terrible, there are no ports, and they’re just as pricey as you’d expect. I won’t spend a fortune on something I can’t upgrade easily, with a mediocre keyboard (and sometimes it stops working) and having to carry lots of adapters. Honestly... what’s wrong? I really wanted to hear from people who love Apple devices in the ecosystem but use Windows laptops. Do you think that’s a good idea? The biggest annoyance for me is missing the Notes app and seamless photo syncing. I’m seriously thinking about the XPS 15—it looks nice, it’s upgradeable, and the keyboard feels better than my old MacBooks. Do you think it could last as long as my reliable MacBook (7-8 years)? My usual tasks are PowerPoint, word processing, photo editing, light video editing, and watching YouTube. I guess the editing work might be better on my desktop if needed. Why can’t Apple make laptops anymore?! That’s really surprising!

Other affordable or free options include DaVinci Resolve, Shotcut, and CapCut. These tools offer solid features without the cost.

Consider trying Hackintoshing to run macOS on a Windows machine. The main Apple features should work normally (assuming an Intel processor). There are numerous guides available for devices like the XPS 15 and others.

Purchase the Hauwei Matebook X Pro and install it on your Mac OS. This setup is what MacPros were meant to get for $1349.

You should consider purchasing an affordable 09-12 MacBook or MacBook Pro. That’s exactly what I did—I own an iPhone/iPad and I really enjoy using my Windows PC, but having a budget-friendly Mac for portability would be great.

It's really disappointing how much improved it is compared to a MacBook.
