I sent my Ryzen Mobo to RMA and during that time I replaced my old I7-6700K for a temporary fix, but it wouldn't boot and I had to start from scratch. The new RMA's Mobo is on its way, and I don’t want another Windows reinstall. Any advice on swapping the MMO without needing a full reinstall?
It's mainly a matter of chance. You'd need to be very fortunate that Windows doesn't malfunction now or later, so it's wise to reinstall anyway.
I never faced any problems. I always change the hardware without reinstalling Windows first, only after it starts working I reinstall it. I just connect the old drive once I enter BIOS and then restart. I did this during my upgrade from i5-4670 to i7-6700K and when I moved to Ryzen.
