This question has likely been asked before... I understand your concern. You have an older Pentium 4 with Windows 7, and you're thinking about transferring it to a new PC. It might be helpful to upgrade to Windows 10 first, as it can simplify the process. Let me know if you need more details!

Occasionally copying the hard drive helps, though it doesn’t always succeed. Try it if you can, but keep a backup. Windows 10 could simplify the process if your new computer is up-to-date, because older versions like Windows 7 might lack the necessary drivers.

It's seldom worthwhile unless you like troubles with drivers and outdated files from an unknown time. The standard advice is to start fresh for optimal results.

Avoid copying the drive; it will cause many issues. You can relocate the hard drive between computers physically, or if you retain the key, remove it from one and install it elsewhere. Also, consider upgrading to Windows 10.

I was planning to relocate the drive, but shouldn't it be okay?

It’s not ideal because a completely different motherboard from the OS can cause a blue screen at startup. The best solution is a full reinstall of the operating system, as Windows 7 struggles with hardware changes compared to later versions. Using the latest Windows 10 installation media ensures the Windows 7 code remains compatible for a clean install on your new system.
