Hey everyone, just installed a new Ryzen machine and got some G.Skill 3200Mhz RAM. When I powered it on, it was showing 2133Mhz instead of the expected 3200Mhz. I tried enabling the XMP profile in BIOS, but the Task Manager still lists 2133Mhz. Both CPU-Z and Ryzen Master say 1066Mhz, which is half of 2133—what’s going on? Does this mean XMP isn’t working properly? How can I confirm the real memory speed? Thanks!
Consider downloading HWInfo and selecting the memory details. Often, these programs interpret the product you're using and apply the standard settings rather than measuring your actual performance.
Use CPU-Z to confirm RAM details—check the CPU model, board type, and slot placement. Ensure DIMMs match the correct slots. REMEMBER, half of the value shown is accurate; DDR means Double Data Rate, so multiply by two. In your case, the speed should be around 1600MHz.
Ah yep, I missed the "XMP-3200" column on the timings table in CPU-Z, shows 1600MHz. HWInfo says the same, 1600MHz XMP. Also kind of embarrassed I never knew this! Thanks guys.
