Yes, Word 2003 frequently alters its language settings.
Hello,
I’m unable to stop Word 2003 from altering the language settings. I turned off "Detect language automatically" in Tools > Language > Set language and disabled "Auto-keyboard switching" in Tools > Options > Edit tab. I also switched the default language style to Serbian (Cyrillic, Serbia) and created a new style for my preferred language. However, Word continues to switch languages based on the current keyboard layout, even after changing it.
For better understanding, I’m using the "Serbian (Cyrillic, Serbia)" keyboard layout. The dictionary in the Serbian (Cyrillic, Serbia) language in Word 2003 is empty, and I want to use the "serbian (cyrillic)" language for spell checking. But whenever I manually set the language to "serbian (cyrillic)", nothing changes—no matter what I try. The language always remains tied to the keyboard settings.
The only solution I’ve found is typing the entire document, selecting all text, and then setting the language. This approach doesn’t work for further edits because Word automatically updates the language for new text as soon as I start typing.
Could it be that I’m missing a specific setting? Or is there something in Windows interfering with Word, especially since others have reported similar issues with newer versions?
I’m using Windows 10.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
