You might want to consider purchasing a new Windows license instead of saving money, as it ensures compatibility and support for your current PC.

On Windows 10, the system evaluates new devices and compiles the required drivers to ensure proper startup.

Yes, no, or maybe—there are issues. You might want to test it first, but a fresh installation is usually best.

my Windows installation comes in slightly later than expected, so I thought it might be safe to try using my existing SSD for the initial period.

Checks for GPU drivers presence; if found, remove them and reinstall only what's required unless you're changing graphics cards.

Attempt the task again. If needed, revert to the previous setup and wait a few days.

It seems you're checking if someone has started a project or idea recently. Let me know how I can assist!

Consider the many factors involved here. Personally, I wouldn’t transfer an OS drive from one machine to another. Maybe try downloading the Windows media tool, making a bootable USB, and installing Windows in trial mode until you receive your copy by mail. That way, you can begin using your new system right away. You also have about 30 days to activate it.
