The system should adjust the OS settings, but it will recognize the hardware upgrade and won’t turn it on automatically for you. You’ll still require a fresh key with a duplicate.

The OEM license for Windows cannot be transferred. You must buy a new Windows 10 license. Cloning isn't allowed—not just as suggested by Electronics Wizardy, but because it only works for identical drives and firmware copies. It lacks proper error correction, which can cause problems like failed updates or other issues later. A fresh installation is always recommended. Depending on your system and connection speed, cloning might even be quicker.
