The buzz in the press about these new specs and promotions makes me believe AMD needs to push even harder this year. Outperforming Intel isn’t enough anymore.

I detect a strong interest in a fanboy presence.

Basically, I'm hoping for an OS built into the chip itself.

I believe the market situation is quite different from what we expect. Personally, I think AMD should concentrate on a single direction instead of spreading itself too thin across so many areas. Focusing on one area until they generate real revenue would be more effective.

Zen might take it next year? Haha, don't worry. AMD just says it should perform similarly to Haswell.

I believed their IPC projections were nearer Ivy Bridge, though I might be wrong.

The high end forecasts point to Haswell. Yet considering AMD's past with Phenom II and K10, a performance level near Ivybridge wouldn't be unexpected.

Intel Skylake introduces a new capability that integrates with Windows 10. It enables Cortana to be activated even during sleep through wake-on-command phrases such as "Hey Cortana, wake up my computer." A recent article covered this development. Additionally, there are likely enhancements to the Connected Standby function on mobile Skylake processors, a Microsoft feature that allows tablets or laptops to mimic smartphones by receiving notifications like emails and live tiles while in sleep mode.
