I own a Ryzen 7 2700x paired with a 6600xt. Just a few months ago I upgraded from an RX 590, but performance hasn’t improved much. The games I play are competitive shooters and I expect solid frame rates—often over 100—but I rarely reach them. When I do, they feel unstable. I’ll share a photo of my PC setup later.

Competitive players often rely more on CPU power than GPU strength. Your performance may be limited by your processor rather than your graphics card. Which titles are you using? What configurations are you applying—resolution, refresh rate, and settings? What frame rates are you achieving?

Low difficulty settings on Crunchy Dragon. Apex mainly just began the finals. Destiny 2 occasionally appears, Warzone. Refresh rate is at 165. 1080p quality. Consistent frame rate around 90 to 100. Occasionally it spikes to 165 but it looks terrible.

At reduced levels, minimal GPU power is sufficient. More processing strength is required to maintain frames. The component you changed isn’t suited for your needs.

It's a ready-made setup and I'm unable to modify the BIOS for a newer processor.

It's not that simple, right? The device is more than just a basic asrock board.

It appears the component was likely developed by ASRock for CyberPower. I checked the ASRock site for the part, but it wasn’t found. I visited CyberPower’s site and saw their last board update was in 2020. Unless that’s irrelevant since it’s an AM4 model, I’m not sure what to do next.

It seems unlikely your CPU is the main issue. In this case, the graphics card is usually the problem when high refresh rates aren't being achieved. You might consider lowering the framerate limit for a better feel, but beyond hardware changes, there aren't many options available.

Consider reviewing the task manager or monitoring tools. It’s likely one or more CPU cores are stuck at full capacity, which is restricting performance. Upgrading to faster or more efficient cores could help. Asrock might have a BIOS option that improves this. You could also try installing a 5800x3d board to see if it boosts speed significantly.
