Based in the UK, you're considering enhancing your existing network setup. Upgrading from a BT router with a mesh system is a common choice. Pros include better coverage and performance, while cons might involve higher costs and setup complexity. Options range from purchasing a dedicated router and access points to building a custom rack. A rack solution can offer flexibility but may require more technical know-how. Evaluate your needs and budget before deciding.

Is there any problem with the system you're using? It seems like you're looking to experiment with something, which I appreciate. But if that's your main goal, then it's something only you can confirm. Without more information, I can only say that if you have an in-home NAS or server, client-to-client sharing, or high-speed internet, upgrading to WiFi 6 could improve performance. Otherwise, it might just be a fun project rather than a significant upgrade.
