Currently one router operates on each floor. You're looking to connect them into a single network. Yes, you can purchase another router and configure it similarly. The "Wireless Access Point" setting will handle Wi-Fi, but connecting your desktop via Ethernet to that access point should work. Honestly, WDS performs poorly; it can cut bandwidth in half. According to what I know, it works best when both devices share the same type and have WDS enabled. I faced issues with this setup. Consider using a wireless repeater or extender instead.
