I have an ongoing project. I need to start from one hard drive on various computers, similar to when I stop using my main machine and just insert it into a laptop to boot it up. Two things come to mind: can this be achieved by partitioning the disc? If yes, would you mind sharing a link with instructions on how to do it? Thanks in advance!

You can try it if you want, but the reason is unclear. Keep your data in the cloud or set up your own using owncloud on a modest $2 VPS. Hard drives for laptops cost around $20.

They don’t have enough ports for the required connections.

I believe the question isn't clear. I need to know how you plan to use the setup. Are you trying to connect one hard drive to two PCs simultaneously? Since you already have a 1TB HDD, that might be useful. Let me know your goal so I can help properly.

Ensure you're connecting them correctly as secondary storage. Verify your setup before proceeding. For guidance, check the links provided for creating a portable hard drive from an old PC drive.

Creating three partitions—two for dual operating systems and one for data storage—makes everything smoother. Even though HDD costs are still high, I wouldn’t mind upgrading to a larger drive if it helps.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I aim to use it as the primary HDD on the laptop. It should be fine if I set up a secondary HDD on the main PC and make it my hot-swap bay. Currently, it doesn't support that yet.
