I'm looking at an Odense 2k board from HP System 580-023W and thinking about switching to an i3 9100F. Both have LGA 1151 sockets, but the site says the H170 chipset doesn't support the i3 9100F. I need a second view on this.
H170 is part of the 100 series chipset. Chipsets from the 100 and 200 series are compatible only with 6th and 7th generation CPUs (such as i5-6600, i7-7700). The 9th gen CPU, 9100F, won't work—it needs 300 series chipsets like B360, H310, Z390, which are meant for 8th and 9th generation processors.
