Because of a poor decision, my Win11 system hasn’t been online since early July. I didn’t install the update that damaged systems and wiped SSDs (supposedly).
I’m considering switching to offline mode, pausing updates, and then returning to online play. Will this be safe? Am I risking my system’s stability?
Also, I’m aware of the debates around this update—what actually happened, who was at fault, etc.—but I don’t want to get caught up in details. My main goal is to resume gaming. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
It might be helpful to mention the make and model of your SSDs. On a minor note, the problem with the update affecting SSDs wasn't major. But if you're using a Samsung SSD, don't worry about it.
Make sure you have a backup of your mission-critical data and keep a bootable USB installer for the OS ready, just in case you need to restore the system before the update is applied.

My recommendation...just update Windows. Lots of FUD out there, nearly all is rubbish.

I believe gamers face greater risks due to downloads, mods, and new releases. They belong to a category that constantly requires updates, security measures, and best practices. The safer approach is to secure your networks and ensure your gaming device remains solely for gaming purposes; avoid storing any sensitive data there.

If you possess any confidential data or past records on your device, I recommend a complete upgrade. The particular fix being discussed largely turned off all functions from financial services to energy control systems, contrary to expectations when it actually didn't.
