Always use the suggested slots, though swapping just for testing is fine. Your board doesn’t seem to have major memory issues, so you might want to check online for others using the same XMP memory kit. This would confirm it. Also, review your QVL, but remember they’re not as thorough as full data.

Great rig setup! The 2x8 sticks fit slots A2 and B2, 2nd and 4th. Now with the specs – really impressive. The 3600mhz Micron chips work fine; this shouldn’t cause any problems. The CPU memory controller might struggle at that speed, so consider using the 3200mhz option if possible. I’m not very familiar with modern MSI boards, but unless it’s a top-tier model, I’d be cautious about relying on XMP for 3600mhz without extra tweaking. Memory timings can be tricky, especially with AMD. It’s worth checking the IHS plates of both CPUs to note the build dates and see if earlier models had better performance features like IMC and IF support. For now, try the 3200mhz setting and enable XMP – see how it performs.

(or clear CMOS) Activate XMP, which will configure timings and voltage to 3600mhz. However, you should adjust the actual frequency to 3200mhz. You can manually set the memory voltage to 1.35v to maintain that value. Another option is to modify the settings in the timings menu (at least on your ASUS board...) and disable "Power Down Mode." This prevents the memory from reducing voltage for power efficiency.
