This board features a fully detachable SPIDIF port and offers better value compared to your existing option. It performs well overall. Video editing requires multiple threads, but the 3600 provides quicker single-thread processing, enhancing its performance across all aspects.

Would love some recommendations for items you could buy on New Egg or Amazon. My spending limit is around the current price, up to about $500. Unfortunately, I overspent on other things this month and didn’t expect my dinosaur board to fail. Yes, it really needs a better audio output port. I’ve gotten so used to how clear the sound is that I can’t go back now... yeah, that’s tough.

I mostly make changes only when needed. The games I play were designed for single-core systems, so this processor should be more than sufficient. Unless you have ideas for a more efficient setup within the same budget?

Check this out: PCPartPicker lists the parts with their details. It shows a CPU model, price, and where to buy it. The motherboard and memory are also priced and available for purchase. All costs shown cover shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts. The total comes to $396.95. This information was generated by PCPartPicker on July 25, 2020.

I forgot to note that. Another reason is that I have a couple of CPUs that work with the 1151 board I chose, but they're not as good at performance and I haven't tried them yet. I'm considering scenarios like this CPU failing, though I don't have another Ryzen available.

For those wanting to run older CPUs, it's best to get a refurbished motherboard.

Great! Thanks for your feedback. I'll give it a try despite the different sources. You're right—this is faster than Tom's setup, and I'm a long-time help for HDD/SSD issues. For an I3 build, the same RAM recommendations should apply.

For a genuine LGA1151 setup, the 9100F is significantly cheaper than the non-F model and matches everything except for the built-in graphics. You can find it here: https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i3-9th...-_-Product

I noticed the same thing too; it looked like a 300 series warning from Google, so I went with extra caution. The motherboard isn't marked for 300 series, which made me stick to safer options. I have discrete graphics, an older card that's no longer common but still works with two 27-inch touch screens and a TV—enough for my needs. Regarding RAM, a 3200 MHz is fine with the I3-9100 chipset and the board itself.

I think it’s a good idea. Right now Intel is adjusting what’s permitted on non-overclocking boards since enabling XMP in BIOS for 3200mhz is essentially overclocking (similar for Ryzen, though AMD fully supports it). Regardless, it might not reach that speed. I’d strongly caution against choosing the Intel option. Even with a used LGA1151 board to fit older CPUs, Ryzen offers much better value.
