Hello everyone, I'm checking the thermal performance on my R9 5900X. The screenshot shows idle with only a little activity running. I'm trying to understand the difference between the TCTL/die sensor and core temperatures. They seem to vary by about 7-30°C. When nothing is active, the TCTL die sensor drops to around 45°C but never goes below that. My core voltage is -0.0424V, and I'm using an EKWB 360mm with Noctua. The fan curve is set to default on my ASUS ROG X570 Dark Hero, and I have a single 1-2 splitter for the fans. The pump connects to the AIO_PUMP header and uses its own curve. In games like Battlefield, the TCTL reaches up to 90°C, while core temps stay about 20°C lower. CPU power draws roughly 100-144W, peaking at 175W around 4.5-4.8GHz with all cores active. Is this normal behavior? Could it be a mounting issue or sensor inaccuracy?
It's a bit warm, which is typical for an AIO. Playing a game at 90 degrees feels normal. My temperatures are higher than usual—shouldn't be this hot. Using Thermalright FC140 with Noctua industrial parts keeps things cooler. I also have PBO enabled and set to boost to 5150, and it works well. My space reads around 21°C.
