I purchased a fresh computer and everything was set up correctly, but I don’t have the operating system installed. My previous machine ran Windows 10 Home, but now I’m switching to a new setup with an NVMe SSD. Do I need to buy Windows again or can I move it over somehow?

You have the option, though it's advised to save your crucial or sensitive information and perform a fresh installation of Windows on the new device.

Check the Microsoft website for instructions on transferring your Windows license to a new computer. I understand a fresh installation is the best option.

Usually I’m not in agreement—just use your existing hard drive and start up. The variation across different setups is what matters.
