I was checking out the newest WASD from Tek Syndicate and noticed they discussed text-only adventures. I wondered if there are any quality free games in that category. I understand it's a niche genre often seen as outdated, but I'm curious about options.

Actually, I haven't tried any yet, but I'm eager to do so.

Yes, it reminds me of the snake shape on some old Nokia phones.

http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ This should be a pretty good text based game from what I've heard, never played it myself though.

If you're interested in a text-based adventure, the game they highlighted in the show is a great choice—Zork. There are three entries in the series, and it's often considered the top pick among them... I haven't seen many other options yet.

Utopia – a popular text-based adventure. Great storyline. It’s hard to truly control the game alone, so teamwork is encouraged.

Dwarf Fortress is an excellent game. Although it requires some time to master, it's worth it since losing adds excitement!

I have only had a brief exposure, but you might want to try Fallen London. It's a browser-based game featuring a lot of text and some solid artwork. If you enjoy the atmosphere and wish to continue, they also offer Sunless Sea, which blends storytelling with gameplay. Outside of that, I suggest picking up an engaging book—just let me know your preferences if you'd like suggestions.

That's a joke question. It's not about whether it was made for MS-DOS or anything.
