I uploaded Destiny 2 to my account because it was free, but I’m facing an issue downloading it due to its massive 81GB file size. My data limit is only 35GB per month. Could it be possible to download the files in a compressed version from another source, save them to a folder, find them in the Blizzard client, and then play?
There are some places, but ehhh. You are already downloading the game in a compressed format, so there really isnt much you can do. Some places that offer the game at much reduced sizes reduce the audio quality etc for making the size smaller. Better alternative for you: Download the game in a friends house/mcdonalds, and then use a portable hdd to bring it into your house. Then just click "locate installed game" and you are good to go.
Blizzard offered an 81GB download, but I’m not sure it’s the best compression they can achieve. I’ve noticed other software pirates doing better. My friend and I share the same connection, so we’re definitely in the same boat. Wi-Fi from places like McDonald’s is terrible. Anything labeled “free” is just unusable.
They lower the audio quality and the heavily compressed files can take days to unpack. Do you have someone who has the game installed? You could just share their game over file.
Additionally, the game needs a steady internet connection, which means it could be restrictive due to monthly limits. The discussion uses a substantial amount of text while playing, and frequent updates are common. If you don’t keep up, you won’t be able to play. https://www.bungie.net/Ne/Forums/Post/68...t=0&page=0
I’d only have time to enjoy this twice a week for about four hours. Players report about 100MB of data usage each hour. I believe I can manage it. Updates likely fit better during off-peak times.
