Recently my Wi-Fi has been acting up, and I’m thinking the issue might be with the router. Since it’s quite old, I checked the Ethernet connection and everything seems fine. What kind of router would be best to replace?

Did you check for other networks? The main issue I notice with Wi-Fi is that the 2.4GHz band gets crowded by nearby routers. While a new router or access point on 5GHz could help because it’s less busy, the bigger advantage is its shorter range—so neighbors can’t interfere as much as with 2.4GHz. Your device will need to support 5GHz too.
