Only a small amount needed, but for regular use I suggest at least 120GB. However, resizing the partition in Windows is recommended to prevent issues. Updates might overwrite the bootloader, making it impossible to access your Linux installation—this has happened a few times. It can be resolved but is quite troublesome. For better reliability, I’d install Linux on an external SSD.

Creating a snapshot of the entire drive works, but updating Windows will cause the same problem again. Making a snapshot of the Linux system doesn’t solve it since the bootloader remains intact and the installation stays active.
