Hi, recently I switched my power supply and used flat cables I hadn’t tried before. I’ve only had one build with the same PSU for a while, so this change feels new. I’m a bit nervous because it’s a fresh supply, and I don’t want to replace it right away. Maybe I’m worried about staying home all day due to COVID-19, but I had to route my CPU cables under the GPU since the original cable was too short for the case’s cutout. Looking at the photos, it seems okay—this might be a temporary setup that could last a while.

Sure, it's okay—it's just not very attractive. Some cable extensions have stylish designs with insulated cables and look quite affordable.

You might be able to guide the cable along the back of the board by rotating the power supply so air flows from inside the case. This can bring the cables a bit closer to the rear, allowing routing. The only drawback is the PSU could run slightly warmer, which might make it noisier—especially if it has adjustable RPM—unless it’s designed for that. Otherwise, it should be fine.

I’m also not great, so honesty doesn’t really matter. I just want everything to work smoothly with the cables. Yeah, I understand—maybe switching the CPU could help me think more clearly. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback. I've always believed the optimal method for connecting a PSU is the one I use—either purchasing a cable extension or sticking with the current setup. As long as it works smoothly, I expect it to remain that way until I need to upgrade the CPU. Edited March 23, 2020 by Rui Neves
