You just put in a higher-quality CPU cooler using the standard Intel setup. You had to exert extra force, and now you notice something. Is that alright?

If it functions, it does. That adjustment raises some worries. Make sure you're installing the correct cooler. If needed, reattach it.

I'm working with an LGA 775 cooler on an LGA 1150 board, though I'm certain the specs remain the same. I'm confident it's securely installed using the original Intel method. Also, I was giving a thorough clean to my friend's PC that had the standard cooler for many years—it was really dusty. Edit: just realized the backplate is the area where the bend occurs. Back to the original cooler?
