Yes, some x470 boards supported PCIe 4, but AMD eventually removed that feature from their offerings.

Some early BIOS updates for many AM4 boards did work with Gen 4 chips, though they had to be turned off before the CPUs were released. Perhaps just a few days later they re-enabled them.
