Planning to use it for about a year before upgrading, or should I get another cooler? Aiming for around 50°C with no overclocking.

All AMD stock coolers work well without causing thermal throttling. You asked about 50°C specifically? The difference in performance between an Athlon at 50 and 75 isn't significant, so you might want to pick a setting that minimizes fan noise.

The fan on the Athlon cooler isn't very loud, but at full speed it can create a noticeable whine. Even if the PC is in another room, you might still detect it.

50C works fine even when idle, but that's acceptable. For an Athlon, the standard cooler should suffice.
