Over the last two weeks my Windows 7 machines have suddenly stopped working. These devices had been running smoothly for months or even years, being activated via the internet or phone. Now they’re consistently reporting issues like invalid product keys or fake Windows versions. This seems strange, especially since Microsoft recently halted selling Windows 10 keys and began restricting activation for newer operating systems using 7/8/10 keys. I’m not trying to create a conspiracy, but the pattern is really confusing. It’s happened on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems, across Professional and LTSC editions. Anyone else experience this?

Request more details about the source of the keys for these Windows 7 systems. Were they obtained from grey market sources, purchased full-price OEM/retail licenses from a local retailer, or were they pre-built units?

A few keys were added to the machines, but none came from a grey market. If a key is used, it should be the original for that device if it's an OEM.

It seems unusual. Were there any other computers in your home besides this one? Have you noticed any other devices impacted by the issue? If you attempt to restart Windows using the same activation keys, does it consistently decline to activate?

All devices adjacent to me are active now. Keys function properly once more, yet the notification persists after several days.

Microsoft might be making this joke, but really you should have moved the OS to another drive. If not, just ask ChatGPT for free Windows 7 keys and it should work.

It makes no difference to me. Windows 7 is outdated. Steam stopped functioning for me... well, I’m building a W10 PC for gaming anyways—I planned ahead. But I’ve got experience too, so it’s fine. Mined works well with Ultamite so far...

Typically, if you digitally burn the Windows key, the device still recognizes that the keys are already theirs. It’s quite odd.

This is just me guessing, but maybe there's something either on every computers (vpn?) or on the router side, that's messing up with the activation servers and Microsoft doesn't like that.

It’s normal, the system is clearly phasing out older license deals, whether by mistake or otherwise. What will stop them? Lawmakers? Users?
